Reportedly, this annual report is the 6th volume of the results of the annual systematic research on outbound tourism commenced since 2003, is yet another significant research result obtained since the establishment of CTA in June, 2008, and also marks the first time an English version of the "Annual Report of China Outbound Tourism Development" is ever released. As a landmark achievement that reflects in an all-round way the development of China's outbound tourism, in addition to retaining the analysis of the influencing factors, consumption characteristics, industrial trend and regional pattern of outbound tourism, this report also includes analysis of the behaviours, consumption characteristics and satisfaction degree of tourists in the destinations, expands the social economic background of such four regional markets as the Northern China, the Eastern China, the Southern China and the Southwestern China, and also incorporates the reports of outbound tourism development of Chengdu City.

During the meeting, Dr Jiang Yiyi mainly introduced the five characteristics that appeared in China's outbound tourism market in 2009, the three trends of industrial operation and the three prominent functions of China's outbound tourism development, the forecast of China's outbound tourism development in 2010, and relevant policy suggestions for promoting the development of outbound tourism.

The "Annual Report of China Outbound Tourism Development 2009/2010" points out that despite being affected by such diverse factors as financial crisis, H1N1 flu and political turmoil in certain parts of the world, China's outbound tourism in 2009 has managed to maintain a good momentum of growth, and has made outstanding contribution to the revival of tourism of China and even the world at large. The report further argues that there is an increasingly clear sign that in 2010 the fundamentals of the global economy will improve, relevant policies issued by Chinese government have also helped create a positive atmosphere conducive to the development of tourism, and China's outbound tourism market will turn "bullish". It predicts that China's outbound tourists will exceed 54 million in 2010, with the growth rate reaching over 11% and the tourism service trade deficit hitting $ 5 billion.

In addition, CTA believes that to facilitate the simplification of visa procedure in tourism destinations, optimize Chinese language environment, strengthen targeted promotion and help Chinese tourism companies accelerate their pace of "going out" by taking advantage of outbound tourism are the key points the destination countries and Chinese government shall pay particular attention to in 2010 in promoting the continuous development of China's outbound tourism.

At the press conference, four experts from the CTA, Mr. Dai Bin, Ms Jiang Yiyi, Mr. Li Zhongguang and Mr. Ma Yiliang, also engaged and interacted with the present audience in the style of guest dialogues.
