At 17:00 on November 13, Mr. Dai Bin, President of the China Tourism Academy (CTA), attended an exchange event themed “Rome, the Gateway to Your Business” held by the Italian Embassy in China, Italian Trade Commission, Rome Airport, Roma e Lazio Convention Bureau, Welcome Chinese, etc. This is one of the promotion events initiated by Italian agencies in China under the framework of the 2018 China-Europe Tourism Year.

Before the event, Mr. Dai Bin held extensive talks with the Roman delegation composed of a number of agencies. Mr. Amedeo Scarpa, CHO of the Italian Trade Commission in China, presided over the event. Mr. Stefano Fiori from the Roma e Lazio Convention Bureau shared his views on China’s outbound MICE market. He also introduced the Bureau’s establishment background, missions, main functions and major exhibition resources. Mr. Ugo De Carolis, CEO of the Rome Airport (“Welcome Chinese” Certification client), introduced the practice of Rome Airport in improving the quality of services to Chinese tourists, including a more streamlined process, a friendlier Chinese interface, and the support for such more convenient payment means as Alipay and WeChat.

Mr. Ettore Sequi, Italian Ambassador to China and Mr. Dai Bin gave a brief speech, respectively. Mr. Sequi talked about the rich tourism resources in Rome, the tourism current situation of Chinese tourists to Italy, and attempts and efforts the Italian government has made to escalate tourism services and tourism safety. Mr. Dai appreciated all efforts the Italian side has made in receiving Chinese tourists and praised Rome as an attractive modern city with profound historical culture. Besides shopping, Italian cultural symbols like movies, costumes, art, and quality lifestyles, will become important elements that attract Chinese tourists. More travel service providers are welcomed to join the “Welcome Chinese” certification, through which bilateral tourism exchanges and cooperation can be strengthened.

Later Mr. Dai Bin and Mr. Fiori, on behalf of the CTA and the Roma e Lazio Convention Bureau, respectively, signed a MOU. Both sides will promote bilateral tourism exchanges and the “Welcome Chinese” certification system, thus advancing the prosperous and quality development of the tourism market.
