In his speech, CNTA Vice Chairman Wei Hongtao pointed out that tourism was a rising and future sunrise industry which was most representative of the development tendency, and it had become the key to stimulate the global economy growth. In recent years, CNTA actively embraced the new era of mass tourism, focused on the themes of transformation, upgrading, quality improvement, and profit increase, innovatively promoted one-for-all tourism development, accelerated the supply-side reform of tourism industry, constantly explored the pilot effect of “tourism plus”, and made distinguished achievements. And he expressed his hope that people in tourism industry could concentrate wisdoms, reach agreements, make practical communications, deepen cooperation of mutual benefits, and jointly shape the new era of ice and snow tourism.

He said that thanks to the public’s active participation, extensive promotion and assistance of Tuniu and other tourism enterprises, and joint advancement of the national, provincial, and municipal tourism administrations, the mass people could feel the happiness and excitement from the touchable ice and snow tours.

At the conference, Dr. Han Yuanjun of CTA released China Ice and Snow Tourism Development Report 2017. This report suggests that China has been a key country of ice and snow tourism and on the progress of developing strong ice and snow tourism market; as many as 170 million Chinese tourists took ice and snow tour in the 2016-2017 Ice and Snow Season, the income from ice and snow tourism was about RMB270 billion Yuan; ice and snow tourism has become a primary pillar industry thanks to President Xi Jinping’s instructions that “the world of ice and snow is also a treasury” and “300 million people take ice and snow sports”. The ice and snow economy is demonstrated by “one plus five plus X” industry system with ice and snow tourism as the core, the integration of ice and snow tourism with other industries is being deepened and strengthened. China ice and snow tourism features three leading spaces (Beijing and Hebei, Jilin, and Heilongjiang), a rising belt (the newly-growing belt of Xinjiang along with Inner Mongolia), and many spotted sites. In the future, China ice and snow tourism will meet the golden era; and it is estimated that as many as 340 million tourists would experience ice and snow tour during the 2021-2022 ice and snow season, the income could be RMB670 billion Yuan, and the output value of ice-and-snow-tourism-related industries would reach RMB2,880 billion Yuan; and the goal of “300 million people take ice and snow sports” could be successfully achieved in 2022.
