The 2nd USA-China Tourism Research Summit & Industry Dialogue Held in USA

On Dec. 8, under joint sponsorship of China Tourism Academy and UCF Rosen College of Hospitality Management, the 2nd USA-China Tourism Research Summit & Industry Dialogue was successfully held in Orlando, Florida, USA. This conference was attended by CTA Vice President Li Zhongguang, US Brand Chair & CEO Christopher L. Thompson, Rosen College Dean Prof. Abraham Piza, Associate Dean Prof. Youcheng Wang, and Deputy General Manager Yan Yongfu of Financial Investment Company of China National Travel Service (HK) Group Corporation, and other 80 more scholars of tourism researchers and tourism industry, entrepreneurs, doctoral students from USA and China.  

In his speech, CTA Vice President Li Zhongguang pointed out that after 40 year’s development, China’s inbound tourism, domestic tourism, and outbound tourism kept growing and the State implemented the strategies of mass tourism and one-for-all tourism. China’s contemporary tourism development and research mainly focused on construction of the new era, advancement of the new economy, cultivation of happiness industry, further and comprehensive promotion of one-for-all tourism, tourism data building, market entity construction, and tendency of globalization. However, China tourism was also facing the problems of inbound market promotion, outbound investment risk, and development imbalance and inadequateness. The afore-said opportunities and challenges constituted the main contents of China-USA tourism cooperation, which would promote the tourism market communication, development pattern learning, international and regional platform building, industrial investment, research and development, and other areas of cooperation. 

Deputy Director Yang Honghao and Dr. Zhan Dongmei of CTA Institute of Tourism Industry and Enterprise Development also joined the summit, dialogue, and academic discussions. During the conference, organized by the USA host institution, CTA team visited UCF College of Medicine, Lake Nona Medical City, Orlando Sports City, attended Rosen College’s 4th International Tourism and Hospitality Research Summit, and made exchanges with the persons-in-charge of San Francisco Tourism Industry Committee, CTSI USA, and several tourism education and research institutions in North America, etc.
