On the morning of Jun. 27, hosted by CTA and supported by the Travel Channel of People’s Daily, “Release Conference of 2018 Annual Development Report on China’s Inbound and Outbound Tourism and ‘One Belt and One Road’ Tourism Cooperation Seminar” were held in Meeting Room 503, Southern Area, Ministry of Culture and Tourism (MCT). Doctor Yang Jinsong, Associated Researcher of the Institute of International Tourism Development of CTA hosted the meeting.

President Dai Bin attended the Release Conference and delivered a speech titled “Release Inbound and Outbound Tourism Reports Together, and Realize Chinese Tourists’ Dream”. According to him, the first getting together of inbound tourism report and outbound tourism report is a coincidence, and may also be inevitable in the new ear for Chinese tourists’ dream. As President Xi Jinping has pointed out, China’s door will never close, but will open wider and wider. The tourism authorities always insist and strengthen the national strategy of developing inbound tourism and attracting foreign tourists. We still stick to this judgement: China’s inbound tourism market is recovering and being promoted by China Dream aiming at rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and well-being of the Chinese people, and the integration of culture and tourism, all-for-one tourism and quality tourism are bringing new power, purpose and guidance to inbound tourism.

On the conference, Doctor Jiang Yiyi, Director of the Institute of International Tourism Development of CTA and Doctor Li Chuangxi respectively released “2018 Annual Development Report on China’s Outbound Tourism” and “2018 Annual Development Report on China’s Inbound Tourism” on behalf of their research teams.

According to Jiang Yiyi’s report, the research shows that China’s outbound tourism market and consumption rose continuously in the total amount, and the proportion of overseas tourism increased dramatically. Outbound tourism was principally promoted by the income growth of the tourists, with the market in middle and western areas and the second, third and fourth-tier cities becoming more active. Consumption in the destination shows increased demands from tourists on experiencing local life, and Chinese tourists are always satisfied with the destination and services.

According to Li Chuangxin’s report, China’s inbound tourism for 2017 rose steadily after a fall, but the basic support needs further strengthening. Total inbound tourist number was 139 million in 2017, rising by 0.8% as against 2016, wherein the number of foreign tourists rose by 3.6%, with more tourists coming form countries along the “One Belt and One Road” route. At present, China’s inbound tourism market, especially foreign tourists market, has recovered and gone up again.

After the Release Conference, Doctor Yang Jinsong from the Institute of International Tourism Development of CTA hosted “One Belt and One Road” Tourism Cooperation Seminar. Yan Han, Vice-Secretary of World Tourism Cities Federation, Ye Xinliang, Deputy General Manager of Shanghai Wusongkou International Cruise Terminal Development Co., Ltd., Gao Jie, Manager in Affairs with Chinese Government of Google, Liu Huiyuan, Deputy General Manager of Inbound Tourism Department, China International Travel Service Limited, Head Office, and Zhao Kuan, Secretary-General of Sanya Tourism Association, attended the Seminar, and they carried out in-depth discussion around such topics as the development of China’s inbound and outbound tourism, and “One Belt One Road” tourism cooperation.
