On the morning of Jun. 27, President Dai Bin met with the delegation led by Vice Governor Jeon Seung Tae from Jeju Special Self-Governing Province in Beijing.

President Dai Bin extended welcome to Vice Governor Jeon Seung Tae, and expressed that Jeju is one of his favorite travel destinations and he had been there twice. The officers’ focus on Sino-Korean tourism and governance on Jeju left him deep impression. Korea’s culture, variety shows and stars are familiar to Chinese tourist, and Jeju’s culture, scenery and shopping are also attractive. Chinese people and Korean people are always friendly to each other, and we can strengthen cooperation in tourism research, and exchange information and data under equality and mutual benefit.

President Dai Bin also proposed two suggestions to Jeju’s tourism. One is that the infrastructure such as road is very important, and more attention should be paid to the microtransit system that enables tourists to be close to the nature; the other one is besides shopping, the contents like food, museum and others that are closely linked with People’s life should be also shared with Chinese tourists through valid promotion, to build Jeju into a destination with high-quality life.

Vice Governor Jeon Seung Tae thanked President Dai Bin’s reception and agreed with him. He said China has close relationship with Jeju, and among the 16 million tourists in total and over 3.6 million foreign tourists every year, there are about 3 million from China. Although the number of Chinese tourists declined largely in 2017, there are 40 thousand independent tourists every month recently, which indicates a change. He expressed that Jeju had done lots of work in infrastructure construction to receive Chinese tourists, such as improving public transport system, bringing in Wechat payment, building cruise terminal in Seogwipo, etc. He hoped the researchers of CTA visit Jeju and raise more suggestions regarding how to better service Chinese tourists.
